David Sup, RN

 

A practicing registered nurse for over 31 years, David has spent the last 15 years working on the Substance Abuse Treatment Early Intervention Team at the Boise V. A. Medical Center. As nurse liaison he has played an integral part in the development of detoxification, consultation and educational services that this team provides. His primary role is to consult with veterans perceived to be in need of substance abuse treatment recovery programs. David also facilitates continuing care groups and provides one on one therapy for outpatient programs.


David became interested in Mindfulness practice after the study of works by Jon Kabat-Zinn and Thich Nhat Hanh in 1995. He began mindfulness practice with Beginners Mind Sangha in 1999 and was ordained in Thich Nhat Hanh’s Order of Interbeing in Sept. 2007. He has experienced a deeper connection to his clients through Mindful interviewing thus enhancing the prospects of treatment engagement.
