Steve Swan, M.S.

 

 

 

Mr. Swan has more than thirty years experience in corrections. He has a Bachelors Degree in political science and Masters Degree in counseling (University of Memphis). He worked for more than twenty years in one of the largest local correctional systems in the United States. He began his career as a counselor and adult education instructor and also served as Supervisor of Classification & Diagnostic Evaluation, Programs Manager, and Deputy Administrator of correctional treatment services before being appointed as a Correctional Administrator at the largest prison in Tennessee (3,500 beds).

He has been with Correctional Counseling Inc. since 1994. During that time he has served as a MRT® trainer, consultant, and researcher of cognitive-behavioral programming for both public (local, state, and federal) and private criminal justice agencies. He also serves as editor of the quarterly publication, The Cognitive-Behavioral Treatment Review. He is a co-author of the textbook, Antisocial Personality Disorder and
Criminal Justice: Evidence-Based Practices for Offenders & Substance Abusers, as well as co-author of a number of journal articles on outcome results of cognitive programming. He has presented workshops at the American Correctional Association Training Conference, International Community Corrections Association Research Conference, Southern States Correctional Conference, California Parole, Probation, and Corrections Association Annual Conference, Oklahoma Criminal Justice Association Research Conference, Texas Association of Residential Service Providers, New Jersey Drug Court Providers, Tennessee Substance Abuse Treatment Conference, Missouri Juvenile Justice Association, and a number of other regional conferences and workshops on criminal
justice treatment and programming.
