The Mark Emerson Memorial Student Scholarship was established to recognize a dedicated advocate in the field of substance use disorders. Mark Emerson was a certified drug and alcohol counselor who had a passion for helping others, regardless of their need. He was also a devoted son, husband and father.
Mark loved to teach, covering substance use disorder treatments, substance abuse prevention and business management courses at Boise State, Northwest Nazarene and George Fox Universities. He also delivered presentations at countless conferences, institutes and community events. He had a gift for using humor to engage students as he explained concepts and fostered the development of skills. The world has lost a great crusader for those whose burdens are heavy.
Starting in 2014, the ICADD Foundation began awarding one Mark Emerson Memorial Student Scholarship annually to support ICADD two-day registration fee. Efforts are underway to secure funding for travel for those outside of the Treasure Valley. To be eligible, you must be a currently enrolled college or graduate school student with the goal of seeking professional licensure to serve in the substance use disorder field. Preference will be given to a student from a rural and/or under-served area of Idaho. The stipend will be paid after the end of the event and full participation in the conference has been confirmed.
Please DO NOT register for ICADD before the selected applicant is announced by April 6, 2026!!
Early bird pricing ends on April 13, 2026 if you are not selected and still wish to attend.
